Angela London, of Northern Virginia, has done well since earning a degree in Political Science from Bellarmine in 2015.
She graduated from a top-ranked law school and now practices law at a major firm in Washington D.C.
Like most Bellarmine graduates, she got the right mix of professional, hands-on learning experiences to spring-board into a bright future.
鈥淚 loved my time at Bellarmine and I left feeling very prepared,鈥� London said. 鈥淚t was the best decision I ever made.鈥�
Data shows 79 percent of all Bellarmine students participate in professional experience for academic credit, while 87 percent of seniors engage in two or more professional experiences.
London knew she wanted to apply for law school, so she interned for a trial judge, which allowed her to attend live court sessions twice a week.
鈥淣ot many undergraduates get that experience,鈥� she said.
She also took advantage of Bellarmine鈥檚 alumni mentorship program. Bellarmine鈥檚 Career Development Center facilitates more than 400 alumni and mentor connections with students annually.
"Bellarmine鈥檚 alumni were so willing to share their career paths with me,鈥� London said.
She also studied in London, England, for a semester, a richly rewarding experience that gave her confidence.
鈥淚t was such an important experience, learning how to fend for myself in a different place,鈥� she said.
These hands-on, experiential learning opportunities paired perfectly with Bellarmine鈥檚 liberal arts curriculum, giving her the preparation she needed for a legal career.
鈥淐lass assignments teach you to read something, analyze it, extrapolate from that information, convey an argument and an opinion, which was invaluable for my career,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 use those skills daily.鈥�
